Do I need a special scanner?
No. The POS tile runs on the Shopify POS device or phone your store already uses. Scan with the camera or a connected reader.
Open the order on a phone or POS device, scan boxes against the PO right where the truck unloads, and publish the new products without leaving the floor. The count happens once, where it actually happens.
At the counter
Receiving usually means a clipboard at the dock and a second round of data entry at a desk later. The two counts drift, and the floor team has no way to publish what just arrived.
The same orders as the desk, on the Shopify POS you already use on the floor.
Work the box in front of you instead of carrying a clipboard back to a computer.
What you count on the floor is the same PO the office sees, still open for the rest.
Where the work actually happens
Plenty of stores open boxes between customers, at the counter, with the POS already in hand. Receiving should meet that, not ask someone to walk away from the floor.

Same workflow, two doors. Check in at a desk in Invoe, or push to Shopify and let the floor team scan. Both land on the same reconciled inventory.
